Is Hemp the same as Marijuana? How to tell the difference?

What is the difference?

A lot of people might think Hemp and Marijuana are the same things. This is both true and untrue. Both contain the delta-9 THC chemical (basically, the chemical that determines a "high"). Hemp is considered to have less than 0.3% of the delta-9 THC chemical. This means that it gives no head high like products with a larger delta-9 THC quantity. Therefore, those products fall under the marijuana category. This is important to know because both these products genuinely help people. But, some people just want help without the high.

 Hemp Explained

Historically Hemp has been one of the most valuable products. The fibers of Hemp were used for clothes, rope, shoes, carpets, and paper. These hemp items could be traced over 10,000 years ago in ancient Arabic countries. Hemp plants are specifically bred to contain little to no THC or less than 0.3% THC. This means the CBD harvested from hemp plants is safe for people who just want results. The CBD content is made from the hemp plant's stalk, leaves, and flowers and is higher than its counterpart.

Marijuana Explained

Marijuana is bred differently. These plants are bred to have more THC for that euphoric head high some people want. The CBD in marijuana plants is typically 1-20%, whereas hemp plants have up to 90%. This is because the marijuana plant includes a higher THC count, which gives a person an intoxicating effect. Marijuana has also never been used for industrial purposes.

Where should I start with cannabis?

Here at PainXPro, we understand the confusion and are here to help. Both Hemp and Marijuana include a psychoactive element that works with the body to release pressure and pain in its patients. CBD contributes as a natural muscle relaxant by inhibiting neurotransmitters' release known to induce muscle rigidity and spasms. CBD is non-intoxicating, and Marijuana is intoxicating. Because Hemp does not cause a head-high, we recommend starting here when looking for a botanical alternative to pain relief.
